This initiative, designed to support the hospitality sector, aims to showcase the quality of León’s most distinctive white wine and to promote moderate, responsible consumption.
The finest white wine is undoubtedly made from the Albarín grape, and the León Designation of Origin is here to prove it. That is the message the Regulatory Council is once again sharing with the people of León through the third edition of Blancomántico, an initiative supporting local hospitality that aims to highlight the excellent organoleptic qualities of this native variety and to promote and encourage moderate, responsible wine consumption in the city’s most fashionable leisure district. With this major social event, DO León celebrates the outstanding 2025 harvest, which is allowing wineries to release more than half a million bottles of this white wine to the market this year.
The event will run for three days, from 1 to 3 May, in the Romántico district. Prize draws, face painting, balloon modelling and live music will bring colour and rhythm to Torres de Omaña square and Cervantes street, while the campaign extends to hospitality venues reaching as far as Ancha and del Cid streets and Regla square. The León Designation of Origin is organising the event with the support of the Tourism Service of the City Council’s Department of Cultural Action and Promotion, along with the enthusiastic collaboration of the participating hospitality venues.
The musical lineup that always accompanies DO León’s outreach and festive activities is headlined by the Nostra Notte disco show, performing on Friday and Saturday evenings, with Saltitos and Manolo Volkscooter taking over the Saturday and Sunday afternoon slots respectively. Activities will run from 1 pm to 4 pm and 8 pm to 11 pm on both Friday and Saturday, and from 1 pm to 4 pm on Sunday.
Twenty-seven bars in the area, most of which had asked the Regulatory Council to bring this festive activity back, have joined the initiative to offer their Albarín wines in a variety of references to regular customers and visitors alike. Together with the wine, customers will receive a card to present at one of the two stands set up in the area to enter the prize draw for attractive merchandising items, winery tours and complimentary glasses of wine.
A QR code displayed on signage at participating venues and at the DO León stands will provide the full list of participating establishments: Cafetería Victoria, Camarote Madrid, Camarote Romántico, Cervantes, Clandestino, El Correo, El Desván de León, El Gallinero, El Gran Café, El Nido, El Pajarín, El Patio, El Romántico, Entrecalles, Ezequiel, Jamón Jamón, La Cocina, La Dehesa de A`cuchillo, La Encomienda, La Taberna, La Trastienda del 13, La Trébede, La Vespa 50, Leña al Mono, Lumiere, Malaje and Taberna de Flandes.
