Family tradition, exclusive production and the truest essence of the Oteros

In Corbillos de los Oteros, right in the heart of the León Designation of Origin, lies Bodega 100 Cepas, a small family-run project where wine is approached with a personal touch, respect for tradition and meticulous care in every stage of production. The winery’s history began decades ago around an old traditional León cave and a small family vineyard. Today, 100 Cepas maintains this artisanal philosophy by producing limited-run wines, crafted directly by the family themselves and focusing on native varieties such as Prieto Picudo and Albarín.

With just one and a half hectares of its own vineyards, the winery is committed to meticulous, largely non-industrialised viticulture. Much of the work is still carried out by hand to preserve the traditional essence of winemaking in Los Oteros, an area with a deep-rooted wine-growing culture characterised by its underground cellars dug into the clay soil. One of the key distinguishing features of 100 Cepas is precisely its underground heritage. The winery preserves two traditional cellars, one of which has remained virtually intact for over a century and features an impressive original press beam measuring approximately eight metres, formerly used to press wine using traditional methods. Its wines reflect the character of the León Designation of Origin and the potential of the Prieto Picudo grape variety, with honest, elegant wines closely linked to the region.

Particularly noteworthy are its red wines aged in French and American oak barrels, made exclusively from grapes selected by hand during the harvest. In addition to winemaking, Bodega 100 Cepas has developed an intimate and authentic wine tourism experience, designed for small groups and focused on showing visitors how people used to live and how wine was traditionally made in León. Tours include a walk through the vineyard, the production room and the underground cellars, followed by a wine tasting accompanied by typical local products from León.
