Valencia de Don Juan will host the twenty-fourth edition of its popular event from the 24th to the 26th, which this year sees strong participation and will once again bring thousands of visitors together at the Jardín de los Patos

Fourteen wineries registered with the Regulatory Council — representing a significant level of participation — will showcase the quality of their white, rosé and red wines over three days at the Wine Fair of the Denomination of Origin León, along with the ‘excellent’ rating achieved for the 2025 vintage. This unmissable event, now in its twenty-fourth edition, will once again bring thousands of visitors to the Jardín de los Patos, in Valencia de Don Juan, from 24 to 26 July. The DO León is co-organising the event with the local council of this town, which is home to the Regulatory Council, making it once again the most widely attended summer event on offer in this regional capital.

This edition will feature fourteen wineries registered with the Regulatory Council, presenting their white wines from the Albarín and Verdejo varieties, as well as rosé and red wines made from Prieto Picudo grapes from the 2025 vintage, which on 22 May was awarded an ‘excellent’ rating, alongside special releases from previous harvests. Visitors will be able to enjoy the exceptional organoleptic qualities of around eighty different wines from the following wineries: Pardevalles, Cooperativa Comarcal, Melwa, Pobladura and Tampesta-Andrés Marcos, all five from Valdevimbre; Cooperativa Los Oteros and Margón, both from Pajares de los Oteros; Vitalis, from Villamañán; Gordonzello, from Gordoncillo; Vinícola Valmadrigal, from Castrotierra de Valmadrigal; Solotero, from Cubillas de los Oteros; Cien Cepas, from Corbillos de los Oteros; Pincerna, from Grajal de Campos; and Melgarajo, the growers’ cooperative operating in Melgar de Abajo, in the province of Valladolid.

These fourteen wineries represent a highly representative cross-section of the territorial diversity of the Denomination of Origin León, as well as the varied winemaking approaches and techniques and the quality of the wines produced from the native grape varieties Albarín — predominant among the white wines — and Prieto Picudo, essential for the rosés and reds, both young and aged. Some Verdejo whites will also be available to taste. One of the major highlights of this edition will be the debut of the first wine — a 2025 rosé — made from the Negro Saurí variety, revived by the Melgarajo growers’ cooperative.

Furthermore, for the third consecutive year, visitors will once again be able to enjoy the highly popular and increasingly sought-after semi-sweet low-alcohol wines, now also certified by the Regulatory Council following approval of the amended terms of their specification.

The programme will open on Friday 24th at 11:30 am with the final of the competition to select the best wines on show, with results to be announced late on Sunday afternoon. The fair’s usual live music entertainment will feature the popular discoshow Nostra Notte, returning to set the mood on Friday night, while Saturday night — as part of the Noches del Castillo programme — will see a concert by Los Sultanes, a well-known covers band specialising in Spanish and international pop and rock. Musical entertainment will continue through Sunday.

There will also be morning entertainment activities for children — the popular Coyanza Chef Júnior — a graffiti art exhibition on barrels, and throughout the three days, a beauty bar and even the option to personalise your wine glass. In addition to its family-friendly character, the fair also has a charitable dimension through the involvement — a regular feature of the promotional and educational activities of the Denomination of Origin León — of the association for Alzheimer’s patients and their families in Valencia de Don Juan. Alcordanza will raise funds to support its invaluable social work through donations at a stand offering water, sweets and basic foodstuffs.

The fair will open at 12:00 noon on the 24th, with the official inauguration scheduled for 1:00 pm, attended by regional, provincial and local authorities. Winery stands and points of sale for glasses and tokens will be open each day from 12:00 to 15:00 and from 20:00 to 23:00. The Valencia de Don Juan fair — held in the town that serves as the headquarters of DO León, as it lies at the geographical heart of the production area — is the flagship promotional event for its wines, bringing together grape growers, winemakers, oenologists and thousands of end consumers, making this celebration the most widely attended event in the summer leisure calendar of this Coyantina town.
